Later Jacob deceived his father Isaac in order to gain the family blessing. ![]() Jacob, the younger son, deceived his brother Esau in order to gain Esau’s rights as the first born son. The main story describes the conflict that occurred between the two boys. However, Isaac prayed for a son and God answered his prayers. As in the case of Abraham’s wife, so Isaac’s wife had trouble bearing children. It introduces Isaac, the second patriarch of the people of Israel. Transition: Esau and his descendants settled in the land of Edom (36:1-37:1) Genesis 25:19-35:15 has a similar structure to “The account of Abraham” (11:27-25:18). In this new division, the author describes what happened to Isaac and his family.
